LaTaunya Pollard-Romanazzi is the founder of Fundamentals of Basketball , a nonprofit program she runs on her own in the Conroe and Montgomery, Texas area. Fundamentals of Basketball is a non profit program that partners with local faith based private schools to enhance the fundamental skills of basketball while building character, leadership, and faith of her young athletes, ages 2 and up. The onset of Covid-19 has shut down the schools that host Fundamentals of Basketball and Upward Sports. Because LaTauyna does not have employees and runs a non-profit program, she was not eligible for the federal PPP loans. Fundamentals Of Basketball Incorporated was recently changed to a 501(c)3 non profit organization to hopfully get a gym built in order to improve the quality of lives for the local youth through sports. Running Fundamentals of Basketball while being a substitute teacher/coach for the Montgomery Independent School District has provided the income she depends on. With the closure of private and public schools, LaTauyna has been forced out of work since March 2020 and needs your help. Please join me in giving back to this amazing woman who has already given so much to our community and children and simply wants to continue. The world needs more people like her.

BIOGRAPHY: LaTaunya Pollard-Romanazzi
First and foremost, I give all glory and praise to God for the blessings and talent He has given me. I was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana which is where it all started: in the back allies behind my parents’ home, I began shooting hoops in a garbage can, then a bicycle tire rim and finally on to a real basketball goal which was nailed to a telephone pole.
Supported by my family, friends, teammates and the City of East Chicago, I developed the fundamentals skills necessary to compete on the highest level possible. I played basketball at E.C. Roosevelt High School in Indiana where we won 2 State Championships and had a 4 year record of 91 and 2. In 1979, I was named Ms. Basketball which was the highest honor in the state of Indiana bestowed upon high school players. I went to California State University at Long Beach on a four year scholarship, broke many records which still stand today and graduated with a degree in physical education. I continued on to play overseas for 8 years and once scored 99 points in a single game. Please feel free Google me for more honors and awards that I received throughout my career.
I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ, who is my Lord and savior and I am a member of The Ark Church in Conroe, Texas. I have three wonderful children and five precious grandchildren. I have lived in Montgomery, Texas for 11 plus years where my business, Fundamentals of Basketball, began. I love basketball and I love teaching basketball, but most importantly, I love ministering to the children about how God blesses me to help them learn and grow!
