SAVE & RESTORE CLOVER VALLEY RANCH!
Clover Valley Ranch is a hidden gem in the Lost Sierra. Just north of Beckwourth, CA in Plumas County, there is a rich history to be cherished. Originating with the Mountain Maidu and then ranging in land uses from the small gauge Clover Valley Railroad that carried timber in the early 1900's, to raising livestock on the high Sierra meadows, to more recent wet meadow restoration and research efforts, many people have come to love the land and ideas that Clover Valley represents.
To capture the essence of Clover Valley Ranch for decades to come, we are starting a fundraiser to plan much needed restoration of the homestead house and big barn that have been a center of life for the valley over the years. The big barn was built around 1900 with huge beams and wood pegs, and is in critical need of attention to address pillar foundation and aging issues. The homestead house similarly has struggled over time with a rotting foundation but has the potential to come back to life, with six small bedrooms upstairs and a downstairs comprised of a kitchen, dining room, and office space. The wallpaper that can still be read on some walls in the house outbuilding was made from newspapers published in 1911! Whether you can give a little or a lot, it will make a difference to restore the Clover Valley Ranch buildings that can provide a base for long-term research and recreation in the valley.
