Cliodhna's Road to Recovery

Hello everyone. We are writing this on behalf of our amazing sister and daughter, Clíodhna O’Neill Mc Dermott. Cliodhna is a young 25-year-old girl who comes from a family of seven siblings who has always strived to do her best in life, in each and every way. On Tuesday the 8th of March 2022, Clíodhna was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in Beaumont Hospital, following a 5-and-a-half-month ordeal, which severely caused her overall health to decline leading up to the above outcome.

Cliodhna's story started back around October 2021, when she initially began suffering from aching symptoms in her abdominal area; originally, this was believed to have been something as mild as Crohn’s Disease and this is what Cliodhna was being treated for at the time. Then in early November 2021, following a Colonoscopy and CT Scan, it was discovered that Cliodhna had a small lump on her colon, which was initially thought to have been an Inflammatory mass and Crohn’s Disease, However, this wasn’t the case. Cliodhna experienced severe and distraught symptoms almost three months preceding this, such as excessive and dangerous weight loss, constant vomiting, constantly having an upset tummy, and being completely drained of all energy.

Following Clíodhna’s admission to Beaumont Hospital in Mid-February, two weeks prior to her cancer diagnosis, it was discovered that Cliodhna’s immense pain had been due to a growth within her colon which had grown to the size of a small football in the space of three and a half months. As a result, this growth severely perforated her colon; due to this, Cliodhna had to undergo an immediate lifesaving colorectal surgery, leaving the surgical team with no option but to place two colostomy bags in her abdominal area. This mass would then come back from pathology with a positive diagnosis for Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

As a family, and with Clíodhna’s prior consent, we have decided to set up this Go Fund Me page to support the family with the inclining costs that will be associated with Cliodhnas illness and treatment, and the surplus to be donated to a Cancer Charity of Cliodhna’s choice. During Cliodhna’s time in Beaumont up to now, she has been treated like an angel. She is surrounded by the best professional doctors, nurses, and health care assistants in the field, who will strive to get her the best recovery and treatment they possibly can. We are asking all our friends, family and so on out there to donate anything, no matter how big or how small; these donations will greatly support Cliodhna in her road to recovery and alleviate any undue stress or anxiety resulting from the above. We are also asking everyone to manifest and pray for Cliodhna’s speedy recovery and healing as she begins her treatment in the coming weeks.
