Climbing Kilimanjaro for Project TEMBO

Tax deductible
This upcoming January I am embarking on an adventure I've dreamed of for a long, long time: climbing Africa's tallest heights of Mount Kilimanjaro! Hiking has always been a source of empowerment and connection to the world around me, and I know that this giant journey will bring more of that into my life than I can even imagine. As a visitor to Tanzania's land, I feel a responsibility to give back to the women and girls who call this region home. In conjunction with my trek, I am raising money and awareness for Project TEMBO, a nonprofit that provides sponsorship for girls' educational opportunities and micro-business opportunities for women living in Longido District, which gazes upon Kilimanjaro's beauty each day. Northern Tanzania has faced major financial disparity, meaning young girls often miss out on the chance to pursue advanced education and provide for their families independently as they grow up. I believe in this organization because their strategies for advancement are in a team effort and informed directly by the Longido community's women leaders to create sustainable change. Any donation will make a major impact in supporting girls and women in their goals toward autonomy. Thank you so much in advance for your generous contribution in hopes of creating strength and resilience for women around the world.

What your gift goes toward:

$25 can support a woman in attending weekly literacy classes to advance reading and writing skills for communication needs

$30 can provide a sanitation kit for a girl at school that includes soaps, pads, a toothbrush, and more

$50 can support a woman taking part in a micro-business or micro-finance loan opportunity by helping her establish and maintain a small business

$60 can provide a girl with a backpack, books, and school supplies

$135 can provide a girl with bedsheets, a blanket, a towel, and a mosquito net to allow her to sleep safely while at school

$200 can support a woman who has graduated from a skills development program that also teaches trade and numeracy skills for creating a small business. These funds could provide her with tools she needs, such as a sewing machine after learning how to sew, to launch her vocational pursuits.

$410 can provide a girl with all the items required for her first year of secondary school: a school uniform, textbooks, a mattress, pillow, toiletries, and more!
