Climb for Yemen - Week on the Reek

Our names are Prionsias Higgins and Katie Flannery.
We will be climbing Croagh Patrick every day for seven days from the 29th of June until the 5th of July.
We are doing this to raise funds for the dire humanitarian crisis in Yemen, all proceeds will be donated to the Irish Red Cross Yemen appeal.

Information on what's currently happening in Yemen:
The Yemen crisis is the worst humanitarian crisis in the last century.
Yemen is currently facing famine, a cholera epidemic, covid-19 epidemic, economic collapse and war.
Th e UN has warned that 18.4 million Yemenis are expected to starve to death by the end of the year. (overall population of
80% of the population are in need of humanitarian assistance. (including 12 million children.
20 million people are food insecure and 10 million if them are considered only a step away from famine.
Only half of the country's medical facilities are still properly functioning and 20 million people are in need of healthcare.
18 million people lack access to clean water and adequate sanitation.
Testing rates for covid-19 are very low while the death rate is very high. (24%)
The cholera outbreak has resulted in 2.2 million suspected cases and nearly 4,000 deaths.
The country has being dealing with a civil war for a number of years, with an estimated 100,000 deaths due to mainly airstrikes and guerrilla warfare.
Many areas are cut off and remote meaning it is very difficult for them to receive aid.
