My Journey with TEAM FOR KIDS!

Hi friends and family,
Writing this now I realize that what will transpire in the next few months is more than the mere 'future goal' that it has continued to be for years now. On November 2nd, 2014 I will be participating in the New York City Marathon in order to push myself on my own crazy journey, meet personal goals and raise money for two organizations that are very near and dear to my heart. What an honor it will be to run, walk, skip, or crawl (or be dragged by wonderful bystanders) to the finish line for two organizations that seek to make such profound differences in the lives of those in need. The first is called Team for Kids (this page: runwithtfk.or), a charity seeking to present otherwise-inaccessable fitness and recreation opportunities to youth across the nation and world. The other, GROW (separate page for donations!), is a self-described "international mental health movement" offering those suffering from mental health challenges a safe place, community, and strength to prosper. Both of these organizations represent the true commitment of many to the values and responsibilities that allow individuals of all kinds to care for one another and share the weight of the world, ultimately enabling our world and those in it to thrive in the face of adversity and challenge. I certainly have been fortunate to have been touched by people like these in my own life and thus strive to be like these people everyday. For this reason, as well as others, I have decided to climb aboard and raise money for both organizations as the special day creeps closer. I am blessed to have the support of friends and family as I challenge myself this fall to make my own small difference and overcome my own unique hurdles. What goes around comes around.
