Wymondham Sports Bar Charity Fundraiser
Donation protected
After our most successful fundraiser last year we have decided to build upon this in 2025. As most of you will be aware last year we raised just under £15,000. We decided to do a half marathon sponsored run, cycle or a 10K walk. We chose to raise money for Nelsons Journey in memory of a special women called Lisa Ducker and secondly for a very special boy called Rian who needed a defibrillator which wasn’t funded by the NHS. After such an incredible amount of money raised we decided to involve some more charities, which were linked to both Lisa and Rian, these included the N&N and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
So this year we have decided to continue to support Rian, and the memory of Lisa Ducker by supporting GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital) and the Mulbarton Ward N&N each receiving 20% of the total amount raised.
This Leaves us 60% of the funds, we have decided to support a very special local family this year, the Dallas family. Jaxson has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 6 years old. The family are needing to travel for treatment on a regular basis and understandably work has to take a back seat for them causing financial uncertainty for the foreseeable future. Jaxson is a brave young man with an incredibly large heart that is going through an exceptionally difficult treatment that is set to last 2 and a half years.
Therefore we have decided to split the total accordingly
• 20% raised to the Mulbarton Ward N&N in Memory of Lisa Ducker
• 20% raised to GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital) with the ongoing support for Rian who we proudly supported last year!
• 20% raised to support the Dallas family
• 389th Bombardment Memorial Museum Hethel to convert part of a WW2 building into another room for displaying more artefacts from the second world war, which will include a memorial section to Fred Squires. Funds needed (£3400)
• "South Wymondham Youth Basketball" fundraising to get outdoor basketball hoops put up at the park on Silfield Avenue. Sue Gilmour runs a lot of the local basketball programs, including at Wymondham High, and recognised the demand for youth activities in South Wymondham. There are a lot of kids in the area that love basketball so this would be a great option for them to be outdoors and active. (£500 +)
• The Sick Children’s Trust, they have houses around Great Ormand Street Hospital and they provide free accommodation for parents whose children are in Intensive Care or High dependency units where parents can’t stay in the hospital with them. This free accommodation allows parents to always be within metres of the hospital, all for free!
We really hope once again Wymondham and the surrounding areas can do what we do best and bring this community together and help these amazing charities.
