Hi I'm Michelle and along with my friend Diane, we have set up this go fund me page, to help local people in our community, that we already know are struggling to survive.
We both live in a village called Newton with Scales in the North West of the UK.
With another month of lock down starting in the UK this week and with many businesses on the verge of bankruptcy, it is estimated that 3 million more people will face unemployment in the run up to Christmas.
Many of whom will go without a Christmas meal with their loved ones this year as they just won't have the means to pay for it. So many we are aware of locally here, can barely afford to feed their families day to day.
Diane and I are fund raising £5,000 to ensure that 100 families from within the Kirkham and district area, who are most in need, will each have a Christmas hamper delivered to their home in time for Christmas day.
We have the support already of several local businesses to provide food for the hampers at cost price and we have calculated that each hamper, will be £50.
We need to raise the money by the 1st December, so we can guarantee placing the 100 food orders with local suppliers at the discounted rates they have offered out.
Each hamper will contain £50 worth of food to feed a family of 4-6
Turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, cheese and biscuits, christmas pudding (and anything else we can afford/get donated too)
We would be so very very grateful for any offer of support you can give towards this project as we already have a growing list of names of families in need and we know by Christmas the list will be even longer...
