Christina kicks cancer in the *****

When the strongest person I’ve ever met told me she has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, the first thing I thought was God, really ? Miller ? Hasn’t she been through enough in her 45 years on Earth? 

You see, I met Christina Barry (who I refer to as Miller) 7yrs ago while working together at Houlihan’s.  One night, I asked about her back story and I left work with a new admiration for my co-worker- now friend. She’s experienced a great deal of loss at a young age. She still finds a way to stay positive; and by no means will she accept your pity.

So, her latest hoop is cancer. An intruder that has not only invaded her breast, but also her lymph nodes and lower spine. Traditional chemo will not be effective with this type of cancer. The plan is meds, meds, meds. ( One prescription alone is $10,000/ 21 days of use !!) Surgery will include a double mastectomy and the removal of her ovaries.

I ask you friends, family, strangers, if you are able to donate, I would be truly grateful. I don’t want Miller to spend her time worrying about medical expenses, or trying to serve when she’s too exhausted, just so she doesn’t miss shifts. She needs to focus on fighting, healing, and being a mom! Not to mention, she’s a newly wed. The first year of marriage is not supposed to include cancer. 

I know if it’s up to her will power, cancer has one hell of a battle coming. We got this Miller, one day at a time.
