Christiane's battle against Breast Cancer

God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.

Hi, my name is Yzavella, I go by Yza, and I am fundraising for my mom Christiane Smith. My mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer on September 21, 2023, and I would like to share a few thoughts about my mom. My mom is the strongest person I know, she takes care of me and my two other sisters. And, living in a mainly girl home, with 2 teenagers, and a pre-teen, I know that we can for sure be a handful a lot of the times. Not only are we a handful, but my mom is also a Correction Officer and she has to deal with a lot of dangers at work. She also served in the Army during a war in Afghanistan in 2003. Knowing that she has to go through all of that, and take care of us, makes my mom the strongest person I know. I am worried about this cancer because growing up as a kid when you hear the word cancer you think of death and how tomorrows not promised, you think of everything that may eventually happen and pray that everything will be okay in the end. My mom is a healthy 43 year old with, no family history of breast cancer. So, you can only imagine how shocked my family and I were when she was diagnosed.

My mom is currently seeking treatment at UCONN and is undergoing Chemo therapy at the moment. Please lift her up in your prayers as we pray for her complete healing. If you know my mom she is the kindest person and it is so easy for people love and adore her. All of the medical bills, expenses for treatments, medication, doctor visits and missing months of work or more will put an enormous strain on my families finances. Please consider donating if you have the means and continue to pray for peace and comfort for my mom. Even the smallest contribution can make a significant difference for my mom and my family as my mom focuses on her recovery, without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
