Because of the wildfires in Santa Rosa, Chris Hollingsworth and Hanna Chort were evacuated on October 9th.
Chris and Hanna woke up in the middle of the night. Smelled smoke and saw flames in the neighborhood. They only had time to grab their two cats and head out. They didn't take anything but the shirts on their back. Chris thought "We might not have a house to go back to" or a winery to work at.
Unfortunately the friend's house they went to was also in the fire's path and they had evacuate from that place too. Two evacuations. Scary!
They are safe right now. Their cats, Nica and Pudgy are safe too. They are all now staying with friends in Petaluma. Their rental cottage was completely destroyed. They had a very small insurance policy ($3K). They will have to rebuild from scratch.
