Raymond's Senior Year Service Trips

Family, Friends and Colleagues -

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out what I am up to.  Over the last few years I have embarked on one of the most amazing journey's that I never I thought I would take.  As many of you may or may not know, I have decided to become a chiropractor and I am approaching the end of my 3rd year of school with only 9 months to go.  Yes, after 8 years of college the end is in sight!  However, I know my curiosity for learning will never end.  Chiropractic is an unbeaten path but one that has created so much meaning and happiness for me.  Connecting people to more of themselves allows them to do more of the activities they love and will forever keep me excited to wake up in the morning.  I have become thoroughly obsessed with the human body and the most congruent ways to move, think, eat, recover and most importantly, how the chiropractic adjustment can facilitate the expression of more life per moment.  No matter what it is that we love most in this world, we need our health.  By facilitating health in others, I get to see more people doing what they love and ultimatley living their purpose in life.  Not a bad gig ;)

Next month I will be taking off on my second service trip to New Delhi, India where I will take my skill sets that I have developed over the last 3 years and serve hundreds of people who don't have adequate access to healthcare.  I will be leaving Novemeber 15th and coming home on the 25th... Celebrating my 27th flying over the Atlantic Ocean this year!

Here are a couple links that give more details about the trip as well as a brief description.

"For this project, Life West has teamed up with the India Association of Chiropractic Doctors (IACD) and the Sant Nirankari Mission. The Sant Nirankari Mission provides a major spiritual retreat twice every year (in November and January) which draws over 1.5 million people to a temporary city over a three day period. The scale of service is nearly unimaginable. It takes 60,000 volunteers to staff each event. The chiropractic tent has grown exponentially with each service trip and needs many more experienced and caring chiropractors to help us provide care."

The feedback that I have received from other students and chiropractors who have gone on this trip was that it was the very best they've served on and one they would never forget.

Come April of next year I will have my very last break from school prior to graduating in June and that is where I will have another opportunity to serve abroad via another chiropractic service trip.  I am not sure where I will be going yet but it will most likely be between Haiti, Fiji, El Salvador or Mexico as these areas have a reputation for putting on great mission trips.  I am hoping to fund enough for these two trips with this one campaign.  More on the details later.

What is Chiropractic?

Like I alluded to earlier, in its truest essence, chiropractic honors the human body's ability to heal itself and that process is facilitated by a specific adjustment to the spine allowing for greater communication between the body and brain and vice versa.  Through the chiropractic adjustment, the body is better able to adapt to stress and express optimal function.

If you think I'm getting a bit "woo woo" on ya, I understand, because I would have thought the same thing before I started this journey :) However, I am ready and prepared to be a life long student, teacher and facilitator of health for others even if it is a less understood profession.  It's time for the standard of health care to be raised and I believe a chiropractor who is dedicated to his or her craft is an essential component to everyone's healthcare team.

Chiropratic is my avenue to empower and inspire people to take back control of their health and understand their potential for healing is much greater than they think.

My Funding Goals -

I am hoping to fundraise $4000 in total for both trips.  The total for India's service trip is going to be:

India - (November 15th - November 25th)

964.26 (flight) + 200.00 (cost of service trip)+ 76.88(visa) + 90 ( Estimated Gofundme deductions )
= $1,330.00

Spring (2018) -  Service Trip Estimations (Fiji, Mexico, Haiti or El Salvador) -

800-1000 (flight) + 1000-1500 (cost of mission trip - this is the average that most other trips cost in which I've looked into.  The India trip is much less expensive due to it being so closely tied to our school and the relationship they have with the organization but only happens twice a year.) + 170 ( Estimated Gofundme deductions )
$1970 - 2670

Total = $3300 - $4000

This is my best estimation of the total cost of my senior year service trips that I am hoping to make a reality.  If I fundraise more money than I need I will be using the money to further my education in my training of chiropractic.  I will update everyone on what that includes if that ends up being the case.

My Request -

First off, thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit more about my story and where I'm at in life.  If you have found my service trips to be a cause that you want to support I am beyond grateful!  These trips are not cheap and are not possible for me unless I reach out for support.  These experiences without a doubt will have a life changing impact on me.  But more importantly on the hundreds of people who will get to experience someone who deeply cares and is there to add more love and healing to their life.  Going forward after graduation, these experieces will forever be apart of who I am as a person and chiropractor.

Regardless of whether or not you are able to offer financial support at this time you are either a family member, friend, old coach, teacher/professor, colleague or acquaintance who have played a part in the man I am today.  For that, I am forever grateful and hope that my message has been a positive part of your day AND maybe even inspired you to reach out and help me find you a badass chiropractor if you don't already have one:)

Much Love,

Ray
