Chief Angela Greene's Legal Fund

On November 16, 2020, Chief Angela Greene of the Portsmouth Police Department was wrongfully terminated after being placed on administrative leave by the City of Portsmouth since September 4, 2020, for enforcing the law and criminally charging 19 individuals for the felony destruction of a war monument in the City of Portsmouth in June 2020. During this incident, a protester was hurt when a piece of the monument fell into the crowd; he was struck in the head and suffered life-threatening injuries as a result.
Because Chief Greene held local and state elected officials criminally accountable for their actions in the felonious destruction of the monument, she has been removed from her law enforcement position. Her only recourse to clear her name is to bring to light the political motives of elected and appointed officials that targeted her for retaliation, in hopes of preventing future political leaders from destroying the careers of law enforcement professionals who are dutifully carrying out the oath they swore to enforce laws and protect their community.
Chief Angela Greene is a mother of three children and is also taking care of her elderly mother. She is now facing termination with no other source of income. We are asking for the community’s help in funding her legal defense expenses so Chief Greene can focus her efforts on finding gainful employment to continue supporting her family.
We know the majority of citizens nationwide overwhelming support their law enforcement officers and their unwavering commitment to keep their residents safe. As citizens, now is the time for us to stand together in solidarity and send a message, through legal action, that we will not stand silently by and let another chief of police or any law enforcement officer become a victim to political leaders and city officials who no longer put the best interests of the community they serve in the forefront.
