LGBTQ Second parent adoption grants

Chicagoland Rainbow Families is a group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans* and queer families living in the Chicago area. We currently have just under 400 members.
Recently, many of us learned it is in our best interest to obtain a second-parent adoption in order to best protect our families during these uncertain times. This is an expense that many of us were not prepared for and unfortunately, this has to be done on short notice.
We have been so fortunate to have found a lawyer who is willing to give us a sizable discount and group rate as we will be doing this adoption process together. We have been fortunate that amongst our membership volunteers have assisted with providing meeting space, childcare, administrative help and fundraising leads.
Despite the amazing support, some families still need some additional financial assistance to provide this legal protection for our families. We are committed to raising funds to offer families scholarships so that these protections are available to all of us.
All funds raised will be paid directly to the attorney. Grants are being requested for up to half of the total costs. Individual families are covering the remaining half.
