Chicago 19th District Migrant Support

We have seen the news...thousands of people are being directed to Chicago from the border without coordination or support. Here in Lakeview, people have been staying at the 19th District Police Station awaiting whatever help is possible. Working together--churches, community groups, political offices, police staff and fellow citizens, are coming together to welcome and help create a healthy, gracious and safe transition to our community and city. To do this we need your help. Working groups are coordinating food and meals, health and hygiene, supplies and volunteers needed. Your contributions to this effort will help sustain desperately needed resources (including but not limited to-- items such as transportation cards, food store certificates, phone/sim cards). Stay in touch for more information and ways to volunteer. Funds are being collected by LakeView Lutheran for the sole purpose of supporting this communal effort.
