Cheryl’s (Chance Changing Lives) Challenge
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of CHANCE Changing Lives and every donation will help.
I was due to represent GB (Age group) at the European Triathlon Championships, in Austria. However, due to COVID-19 this has been cancelled so for personal reasons, I want to complete the event on Sunday 28th June 2020, the day I should have been in Austria. This will involve covering the distance in my garden; swimming the 1.2 miles tethered to a tree in my small pool; jumping onto my static bike trainer and covering the 56 miles and then run the 13.1 miles on the treadmill. A total of 70.3 miles which hopefully explains the odd £703 target!
It occurred to me at this point that as I belong to Sandbach Striders Running Club, why not raise some much needed funds for our nominated charity...CHANCE Changing Lives. Under normal circumstances the annual club 10km race would raise a considerable amount for this worthy cause. Sadly, we have had to cancel that race too.
For me this is a special day and Chance Changing Lives is a fantastic local charity and worthy of some extra help in their much needed work.
Here is a little more information about CHANCE Changing Lives: Chance Changing Lives is a charity local to Cheshire East and provides support to those people who are suffering deep poverty; people who are vulnerable and some whom are homeless. They normally operate a Social supermarket and Saturday kitchen where they serve food and offer other essential items. However, in the current crisis, they are packing up food and essential household parcels and delivering them free of charge to people in the greatest need in the community.
Sadly the need is great and without this organisation and the people behind it, this essential work could not exist. So for my small part, I will complete the 70.3 miles on Sunday 28th June 2020 and hope to raise as much money in the process.
