Hi everyone
As many of you know, I have spent the past year working on my first novel. I'm so happy and proud to have completed it in a little over a year. Many of you may have read my blog or some of my spicy short stories and The Scent is a combination of them both.
It's funny how this book came to life. One day I was sitting in my office pending my inevitable lay off and since there wasn't much "work" going on, I opened up a blank Word Document and started to type. Before I knew it, I had penned the first two chapters and knew I was onto something big. That was October 21, 2013 and although it took me 14 months, and 9 days..(yes I was counting) I FINISHED IT!!
First off this is grown and sexy reading, so with that being said. This book tells the story of how morals are truly tested when threatened by a temptation like no other. Oh you might say this story has been told a kazillion times. Well in essence it has, BUT this story is different.
Tonni Sanchez, seemingly has the ideal life. As VP of Blackshear Technologies, she holds the number two position of the company. Originally from Chicago she moved to Atlanta with her teenage daughter to start anew, leaving her troubled past behind her.
Dezmond Jefferies is a family man in every sense of the word. With a twenty year marriage and two awesome Children, he has it all. All but the professional title of VP, which he can only achieve by working with Tonni.
From the moment her perfume awakened his senses his curiosity was peaked and he wanted to know more about her. Tonni exudes sexiness and brings out an animalistic trait in Dez that had been dormant for years. Dez is everything in a man Tonni ever wanted, everything but single.
Know what's right, they struggle with the want they have for each other. Is chemistry is more powerful than commitment?

I must admit, this has been some journey. Everything from writers block (which lasted the entire month of August, I might add), to struggling to find the the words to get my characters from point A to point B. Looking back I wouldn't change a thing. It has been one great learning experience and I'm still in it.
However that's just the tip of the iceberg. Writing is business and with business comes expenses ...lots and lots of expenses. The great thing is that we live in the day and age of DIY thanks to web. Publishing on sites like Amazon or Barnes and Noble make it alot easier for first time writers like myself to get their projects published. However DIY also means PIY (Pay-it-yourself) and that's the area I can use your help with.
I thought writing was hard, but coming up with extra funds for editing, prints, websites, IBN numbers, venues for readings and the release party, book covers, photos to name a few, seems almost impossible. After doing all the math I need close $4000, with $1000 of that for editing alone.
The Scent, a Novel by Cherie Santiago (Man I love how that sounds) is my baby and I cant wait for everyone to read it. I just need alittle support getting it out there.
