My name is Scott. I’m a recovering addict. 12 months ago I had hit rock bottom; felt alone, broken and didn’t feel I could go on; the disease of addiction to alcohol and drugs had completely consumed me. Overtime, the disease was progressively getting worse but I was in complete denial and unaware what was happening. Thankfully, I found Changes UK and spent 4 weeks in the treatment centre. The qualified team have lived experience of addiction so were able to support me in the right way. I had to do a lot of work on myself E.g. addiction/support groups. It wasn’t always easy but it was exactly what I needed and gave me the solid foundation to continue my recovery in the outside world.

I am now over 10 months sober and EVERYTHING in my life is better - E.g. relationships, health, my view on life, self esteem.

The disease of alcoholism & addiction does not discriminate.

In England there are an estimated 602,391 dependent drinkers. Only 18% are receiving treatment.
Nearly 1.5 million adults will be significantly affected by a relative’s drug use
In 2021, there were 20,970 deaths that were related to alcohol in England, equating to a rate of 38.5 per 100,000 population.

Without Changes UK I would not be here.

I wrote and recorded a Christmas song with my band as it's a way for me to give something back as I’m truly grateful to Changes UK and to be alive. All proceeds will be going to Changes UK.
