Ed and Janet Chance La. Flooding

I'm Stuart Chance, and this is for my parents, Ed and Janet Chance.  Ed is 77 and retired and spends his free time volunteering at a hospice facility.  Janet retired from Bell South, but is working as a contractor.  Their home for the past 30 years has been located in a suburb of Baton Rouge, Louisiana called Central.  They have never had any flooding around their home, and therefore don't have flood insurance.  However, on Saturday, August 13th, 2016, after several days of heavy rain, water started rising near their home.  At 9:30 AM Janet sent an email saying they were fine, but that water was higher than she had seen before.  By 9:50 AM water was coming into their home.  Janet quickly packed a bag and Ed gathered their small dog Cricket.  When they opened the back door to evacuate, about 10 AM, water poured into the house and was knee deep.  They quickly tried to leave in the car, but when the car reached the street, the water was up to the windshield, the motor died, they couldn't open the doors and the car started floating down the street.  Fortunately two men in a boat saw them and pulled them out of the car.  They were rescued with just the clothes on their backs.  The water ended up being 51" high in their home.  Everything in the home was destroyed by the water; beds, sofa, chairs, TV, washer, dryer, refrigerator, cabinets, table, chairs, desks, doors, everything.  All the sheetrock/walls, insulation, wood floors, everything has been removed and is trash.  The house is just outside bricks and studs.  FEMA does provide financial assistance to people like Ed and Janet, living outside the flood area and without flood insurance, but FEMA will only provide money to make the house livable.
You gift will be used to help my parents start over at 77 years old, with basic things like a bed, refrigerator, washer, dryer, etc… since they have nothing at this point.
