Connor isn’t just a five-year-old kindergarten boy that loves Spiderman, enjoys all things camo and deer and wants to be an astronaut someday. He’s also a five-year-old boy fighting cancer.
On October 30, Connor’s parents heard the words no parent should ever have to hear, “your child has cancer.” Connor has been diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). As you can imagine, his family’s lives have been immediately and unexpectedly turned upside down.
On November 1, Connor underwent his first of many procedures to come, which included a lumbar puncture, a bone marrow biopsy, the chemo port placement, and the first intrathecal chemo treatment. Connor will remain at the hospital as an inpatient for treatment for 30 days - at a hospital that is nearly 3 hours away from his home. From there, he will have to return to that hospital every single week for chemo treatments for 6 months, followed by ongoing follow-up for the next 3 years. He is incredibly sad that he will be unable to return to kindergarten this school year.
This sweet boy and his family need our help. During times like this, the greatest gift we can give is to surround this family with love and financial support. The expenses add up exceedingly fast when a child becomes critically ill - and no parent should have to worry for one second about paying for life-saving medical treatment - or about making ends meet at home while facing such an unimaginable health crisis.
