Hurricane Harvey Relief Aid

Tax deductible
Hurricane Harvey made landfall on Friday, August 25th, and has devastated the state of Texas; leaving thousands in need of help.

In response to such destruction, Mississippi State University's College of Forest Resources (CFR) Dean's Student Council, partnered with the College of Agriculture and Life Science's (CALS) Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club, launched a fundraising campaign to collect contributions that will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.

Every $1 you give provides 3 meals to our neighbors in need in southeast Texas.

The CFR Dean's Council President, Chandler Guy, had this to say of the initiative: "The number one thing that stands out to me among my fellow students is their willingness to give the shirts off their backs to those in need. Our fellow Americans are now in need, and I am confident that the College of Forest Resources' student body and its partners will answer that call."

In light of the support and many donations flooding in, the CALS Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club President, Shea Gould, said, "I have discovered over the past three years at Mississippi State University the definition of family. By displaying continuous love and support, the faculty, staff and students at MSU have been able to impact not only my life but numerous other lives. I am looking forward to seeing how many lives our community can impact as it continues to extend its generosity to the victims of Hurricane Harvey."

UPDATE (August 29th, 2017): We raised our goal of $1,000 in only one day. Our campaign has gone campus wide at Mississippi State University, so we raised our goal to $10,000. In only one hour, another $1,000 was raised.

UPDATE (August 30, 2017): As of this morning, we have shattered our $10,000 goal! The students, faculty, and administrators of Mississippi State University have come together to prove that we are the definition of family. The campaign has currently over 700 shares on Facebook, with momentum growing on other social media platforms.

From Mississippi to the United Kingdom, we have had people donate on behalf of Mississippi State University. In response to such support, we have decided to increase our goal to $25,000. Also, we are setting a tentative deadline to 11:59 pm on Friday, September 1, 2017.

Shea Gould and Chandler Guy are deeply moved by the generosity shown by so many people. The courage and commitment displayed by both friends and strangers attest to the fact that the light of mankind shines brightest during the darkest days, with our light shining a bright Maroon and White; providing people profound hope for better days. No matter what the world may throw at us, we can overcome anything when we face it head on together. Hail State and God bless the United States of America.
