Emmie was adopted through Pittie Love Rescue. She had been overbred and used for her puppies. All her owner saw was dollar signs. A lot of pitbulls end up in rescues. And they sit longer than most breeds before being adopted. If they are adopted that is - because the longer they sit, waiting, they mentally deteriorate.

Eric Braun was a member of the Clear Skies Sunday Family. He and his wife Michelle began walking their dogs Romeo and Jewels at the Pack Walks in 2016. Romeo became one of my most favorite dogs. Later they adopted Aspen and Seal, also from Pittie Love Rescue. Eric was the kind of owner that you would hope every dog would be lucky enough to have as his or her own. He loved his dogs, and you could see it in every interaction. Eric was kind, and empathetic, with deep compassion. Sadly, Eric lost his battle with mental illness a few months ago. He will always be a member of our CS family and we do take comfort in the fact that he is reunited with his Romeo and his Jewels.

As a way to honor the memory of Eric and Emmie, we are raising funds to pay the adoption fees for four pitbulls who are in area shelters or rescues. One is Luna, who is at the Quincy Animal Shelter. Another is from Pittielove Rescue. One more pittie will be from the Animal Protection Center Of Southeastern Mass. And the last is going to be a pitbull with the rescue Gals Best Pal.

We think both Eric and Emmie would be touched and pleased that pitbulls are being helped in their memory.
