We have a friend Shunghring that grew up in Manipur State of India and came to the USA to attend nursing school and now living in Kansas City. I have had the opportunity to visit India 2 times and absolutely fell in love with the people and his family. Some of the kindest and most giving people you will ever find.
Shunghring grew up in the village of Toupokpi about 2 hours from the largest city of Imphal in Manipur. The first trip to India was to visit the area where Shunghring grew up and look at expanding a school that Shunghring started in the Village of Toupokpi.
Last year a group of nurses and doctor traveled to Imphal on a Medical Mission to CMC
It was really incredible to spend time with truly wonderful people.
The Catholic Medical Center is run by Father James Khumlo.
Catholic Medical Center is a hospital as well as a nursing school.
The hospitality and the grace of everyone at CMC is incredible and amazing what they are able to do with limited resources. 100% of the funds raised will go to CMC and Nursing School to build a Hostel for nurses that have completed basic nursing training (General Nursing Midwifery) The new hostel will be 3 stories tall and accommodate about 60 students for about 2 years of Post Basic BSc nursing. The hostel will include about 4 0 rooms for 2 students each, a common study hall, recreation hall, chapel, warden room, a few quest rooms, dining hall, kitchen, shared bathrooms etc.
In addition to the medical mission I evaluated the water system and the needs to upgrade the water to provide potable water at CMC. They have a good groundwater supply and the basis of a good system that would need some changes to provide safe water for the hospital as well as safe drinking water.
The goal is to start construction this fall. We would be very grateful for your support of the Catholic Medical Center and nursing school. Manipur State is a poor state and any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
