We're Curtis and Taura Byrd. We opened Catfeine Cat Café in Murfreeesboro, TN in April 2019 and we have found furever homes for almost 150 cats in our first year in business. We are so proud of our accomplishments and happy to serve our community and provide a safe haven for rescue cats. We also love providing a place of joy and happiness to the people in our community. While all small businesses face ups and downs, nothing could have prepared us for the COVID-19 Corona Virus pandemic. Our March sales are less than half of what they have been in prior months due to a dramatic drop in customer visits due to “social distancing”. Now, as of March 22nd, we had to close our doors for an unknown duration of time.
Unfortunately, when the doors close the bills still have to be paid. We also plan to keep our cats in foster care so we will still need to provide them with daily care. So far, the government is only offering small businesses access to loans. Loans are not the answer for us. We really can’t afford to go into debt trying to survive this crisis. It would be difficult for us to recover. That’s why we’re asking for your support. Crowd funding allows a lot of people to donate small amounts that can add up and make a big impact. Together we can pull through and hopefully come out of this with minimal negative impact.
Your support means the world to us. We know that we couldn’t have done anything we’ve done in the last year without the wonderful support of the people in our community. We also know many of you also face uncertainty during this difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We’ve set our fundraising goal at $12,000 to help cover the loss we’ve already faced, as well as preparing to cover our expenses for the next month. All funds raised will help cover our expenses such as rent, utilities, insurance, payroll and care or the cats.
Thank you so much for your support!
