Catano Fam Hurricane Harvey Relief

Thank you for anyone taking the time ti read this. Many of you know me in my family. For thos who don't my name is Farid Catano, here in Splendora TX. Like many others our family was directly affected by hurricane Harvey. Specifically by the record release of water from the Conroe dam. Water came rushing into our neighborhood rising rapidly around 5 a.m. Monday morning. Within the first hours we saw the river overtaking the only way out of our dead end street and a panic set in. Walking down our downslope street and having the water be chest high I had to do everything I could for our family. I parked at the highest point of our street, walked back and started cutting plywood and boarding up all the doors to our home. Through all this panic and prevention attempts within an hour and a half we had to be rescued by boat. A panic set into my chest to entrust strangers with my kids and wife as they didn't have enough room for me but we had no other choice. Roughly another 30 minutes came by and someone came back for me and our dogs. In the end I was blessed to be reunited with my family but we where all heartbroken to leave our first and only home after only being there 3 weeks. After water receded we returned to an apocalyptic scene of a never ending view of damage to homes and debris. The heart breaking moment to see that water came into our home and see the damage made internally. All of our walls, flooring, furniture, appliances and so on where done for. The current from the river that normally is more than 2 miles out was so strong that the surrounding terrain was pushed out and our foundation was exposed, leaving fences torn down and our decks ripped from our home. After salvaging what we could we walked to what was the highest point of our street to see our only means of transportation was hit with water windshield high with debris still left inside and out. I normally don't ask for hand outs and in this time where everyone is affected I just ask for some help with our day to day expenses, funds for a vehicle and repairs our insurance may not cover. Through my carelessness I realized that I had no coverage for this damage to vehicles which I understand is my own fault. Aything is appreciated. Quite honestly I'm not sure where these donations to Houston are going. I applied for Fema and am yet to receive any response. Either way it goes I'm glad we all made it out alive and again anything is appreciated.
