Carol McFaddens Memorial Fund
Spende geschützt
We are raising funds for the memorial service of our dear family friend Carol McFadden, a 53 year old Tsimshian woman from Victoria, BC who passed away from breast cancer on June 27th, 2015.
With the help of loved ones and joint fundraising efforts, Carol was able to undertake a radical lifestyle shift during her initial diagnosis, which made it possible to sustain a high quality of life during the intense cancer treatments. Maintaining happiness was a priority for Carol and those who knew her will say that throughout her personal hardships, she was always loving, incredibly fearless, she loved to laugh and she gave the best hugs right until her passing.
Her initial mis-diagnosis of a plugged milk duct made national news as she courageously spoke out against the racial discrimination she experinced as an aboriginal woman in the Canadian health care system. Since the publication her story, new policies regarding the treament of aboriginal patients in BC are now taking effect.

Carol was deeply devoted to the advocacy of aboriginal families and children and she had spent many years working with related non-profits. She was also published writer, on the topics of the human condition and aboriginal affairs and a personal short story was published in a of collection contemporary writing by aboriginal women called 'The Colour of Resistance'.
Carol McFadden will be remembered as a remarkable and courageous woman who touched the lives of so many people and the strength of her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
All donations will go to cover the costs of the memorial service, plaque and a portion will go travel costs to the service for her son Jared and benefit her family in this time of great sadness.
