Carolina's fundraiser for Operation Smile

Tax deductible
As the school year approaches, picture day does as well. I was not a big fan of dressing up and smiling for my class picture.  Imagine not being able to smile for school picture day, or not even being able to smile ever because of a cleft lip or palate. Cleft lip is when your lip is split in half right where your nose ends. It is also hard for kids with this disorder to eat. People stare at you everywhere you go and murmur, “What’s wrong with that person over there?” As a result, many kids with cleft lip feel ashamed of their appearance and sometimes get fatal infections.

It costs an average of $1,500 to have the surgery. Unfortunately, some babies are born into families who don’t have enough money to pay for their child’s cleft lip surgery. That’s why I decided to donate to Operation Smile who helps children with cleft lip.  or smile. I got the idea to donate to Operation Smile founded in 1982 by William P. Magee Jr. and his wife, Kathleen Magee because I was at a restaurant with my family and I saw a commercial for this organization and immediately wanted to help.

As citizens of our planet, we must show compassion to other citizens in need. If we don’t act now, we never will. Some of our future leaders may never live to the next generation because they couldn’t afford a cleft lip surgery. So please, join me in giving poor children the care that they need to fix their cleft lip surgery.
