As many of you know, Mila Muniz, has been courageously battling a rare brain tumor. Over the past months, she has shown incredible strength, and her family has been by her side every step of the way.
6 weeks ago, Mila and her family went back up to Boston for a second time so that she could receive radiation again, with the hopes that she could eventually enroll in a second clinical trial in California.
Unfortunately, radiation didn’t seem to work this time around, and Mila said she didn’t want anymore treatment and wanted to come home so that she could be surrounded by her loved ones.
The family made the difficult decision to quickly bring her back home to Florida, but Boston Children’s Hospital wouldn’t clear Mila to fly commercially or drive back home. Gracie and Damian had to hire a private medical flight from Boston, with Atlas Air Ambulance. This was an unexpected and urgent need if they wanted to honor and fulfill Mila’s wishes but unfortunately it is not expected to be covered by insurance.
So many of you have reached out asking how you can help. Above all, Mila and her family appreciate the continued prayers, love, and support. However, we also wanted to share a practical way to help for those who have asked. The road they are walking is filled with unknowns, and there are many needs—both expected and unexpected—that come with caring for a child facing a serious illness.
In an effort to support them during this incredibly difficult time, we have created this go fund me to help ease some of those burdens—including the significant cost of medical transport and ongoing care. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward supporting Mila and her family as they focus on what matters most: being together and caring for her.
We know that asking for help is not something that comes easily to them, so this is one small way we can all come alongside them with love.
Thank you to everyone that had already donated to their GiveButter fundraiser. That fundraiser has been extremely helpful this past year.
Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and for surrounding Mila and her family with so much care.
