Care packages for families in Tondo

We are all on the same boat. Yet for some, paddling is harder.
As we all face the current COVID-19 crisis, some of us do it in the comforts of our homes, safe and secure. However, this is not the reality for those less fortunate.
In the slums of Manila, many lives are compromised as we battle through this virus.
Collaborative Movement is raising funds to bring hope to these families. We’ve been working with a daycare called "Childreamers" in Tondo, Philippines for the past 3 years. Childreamers Daycare has 55 kids, therefore we cater to 55 families.
The Daycare is located in the biggest Slum of Manila. Tondo used to be the largest dumpsite of the Philippines. Amongst the waste live 25,000 people who have found refuge there. Trash is not only something that is beneath them or around them — it is their way of life. A livelihood, where their source of income is based on scavenging through the garbage, sorting it out, and recycling. Despite being in extreme poverty, the community always saw the light in things. The people of the community always share a smile and a grateful spirit.
In these times, these families need the most help. Their daily lives are uncertain. Finding food was always a struggle, but it is even more challenging in these times.
- There is no financial and health aid from the government
- A big portion of the population lives in extreme poverty
- Majority live paycheck to paycheck, but jobs are on hold indefinitely
- They live in cramped, makeshift houses and have limited access to clean water, making it impossible for them to follow the - health protocol (washing hands, eating daily, self quarantine, social distancing)
We are raising this fund to provide care packages for 55 families which would include:
- Food
- Toiletries
- Rubbing alcohol
- Masks
