Care for Charlana
Beschermde donatie
Hello, I am Charlana Pena's daughter, Robin. I have been caring for my mom Charlana for the last 5 years with a break in between while she went to Texas. In Texas we were able to finally get a diagnoses for her after 4 yrs. It was late stage Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia with Lewy Body Disease. She is now in the last stages of the disease and is will need to be placed on Hospice soon. Charlana had a rapid decline after my sister Jessica passed away in December 2017. I also was Jessica's care giver at the same time, Jessica became sick after she had her last baby. I think the stress of life and the loss of a second child kicked my moms disease in to overdrive. Currently I am caring for my mom at home along with all 4 of my sisters children. Many of you know I have no biological children of my own and took them all without hesitation. Its been a rough few years to say the least. Now with it getting closer to the end of My moms life we need more care that isn't covered. My mom has lost 80lbs since March of this year and her decline in all areas is apparent that she's closer to leaving us. After 4 years in appeals for Social Security she was denied her back pay and Medicare because they said when we applied she wasn't sick enough. My mom requires 100% full care and we have to bathe and feed her as she is now a liquid only diet. We have no outside help, the insurance doesn't cover care for her at home yet they wont cover her in a facility either. We do all daily actives for her. My mom is bedridden now and takes 2 to 3 of us to move her. Currently the insurance does not cover her some of her vitamins or medications and doesn't cover protein replacement meals or at home hydration. They refuse to cover Gloves or the supplies needed to care for her hygiene. We will also have the added cost funeral expenses as well. My mom lost her life insurance after she was no longer able to work. We pay for everything for my mothers care and I do the best I can but we need some extra help and that help would be greatly appreciated. My mom was the most sweetest persons you would have known and giving to a fault. She has had a rough few years, we all have really life is hard sometimes and kids are expensive but so is caring for an aging parent with a terminal illness and limited resources especially when she worked her whole life. We just want to make sure we can care for my mom in her final days and not stress or worry so much. Thank You in advance, Robin
