Cape town Volunteering Project

Hey everyone! My name is Tre Furnival, and recently, my school has launched a program to visit cape town in February of next year. On this visit, we will:
-Visit a primary school and deliver fun games/activities,
-Help prepare and give out hot food to a deprived neighbourhood,
-Visit a foster carer’s house and learn about the experiences and hardships she has faced,
-Visit an aids orphanage,
-And much more.
Throughout the 9 months I have been given, I will participate in various fundraising activities to raise the £1500 required for this trip. This trip will not only give me a life-changing opportunity and help me understand the effect of poverty in other countries that I will not forget, but it will help me learn skills like how to efficiently fundraise a large amount of money.
In preparation for this trip, I will also have to learn more about drug, alcohol, knife, and aids awareness while learning about gang violence in England and South Africa. I will participate in individual and group fundraising activities. I will also have to partake in various practical-based workshops and research the history of apartheid in Africa and develop my literacy skills in preparation to read and take questions from a group of students in a South African school.
Not only will this trip be an amazing opportunity for me, but it will allow me and my peers to help and entertain the people of cape town, whether it be through entertaining the students at a South African primary school to giving gifts to people. We could also influence other students like us to do the same and help the community of cape town. We will also be given the opportunity to learn more about local wildlife and history, like the forced clearance of a community of 60000 people.
While on this trip and in preparation for it, I will have to learn about the history of South Africa and its most famous leader, Nelson Mandela, and his legacy. Any help or donations towards this trip would be greatly appreciated.
In advance, thank you so much for your help, Tre
