Why adoption?
As we celebrate 6 years of marriage, and we look to the future, we see ourselves surrounded by children and grandchildren. We deeply desire to experience the blessing of family and watching our children love God and be contributors to changing the world for the better. And yet, the door to that dream felt slammed shut when we were told a year ago that we cannot have children.
As we cried, grieved, and moved on, we were brought to a place of being reminded of what adoption is and what it means.
We were adopted into God’s family. We were spiritually orphans, and now we’re God’s children. As we look at our own country and see the high number of children who need a forever family, the dream was renewed: what would it look like to be blessed by God not only with a child, but with an abundantly special relationship of combining two separate families into one that is never to be broken.
We see the beauty despite a world that is so divided; while we may look different and come from different places, we are one family.
You may be surprised to learn that adoptions can be very costly to the adoptive family with the average domestic adoption costing between $35,000-$45,000. The expenses go towards caring for the child and their birthmother before birth, they also cover the extensive legal costs involved with the adoption process.
As we build our family, we cannot do this alone. We have always heard it takes a village, and we are starting our village a little sooner.
We are currently in the home study phase of the process and needing our funds to be completed by February 2021.
