Cancer Treatment & Expenses for Aaron

My brother Aaron, his lovely wife Jennifer and their son Thomas live in Aiken, SC. They have a great little family and on November 6, 2022, was the first time a doctor said the word Cancer to them. Our whole family was concerned and began praying for the right thing to happen. Without any thought we all have tried to help them in our own ways. Our mother, who lives in Houston, TX, is a long way away from her son who is sick, and she thinks and talks about and prays for him daily. We are preparing this as a means to fill in the gaps for them financially but also spiritually.

Here is the story in Jennifer’s own words …” My husband Aaron was told that he had a tumor in his left femur that had eaten away at the bone. After a lot of tests, we found out it was Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Thanksgiving week he had surgery to put a rod in his leg to reinforce it and keep the bone from breaking. A couple weeks later he started his first of 6 rounds of chemo. At the end of that he had a clear PET scan and we celebrated because we thought this bump in the road was over. Unfortunately, within 5 months he was having pain in his left arm. It was a pain he was familiar with, so we went to the Oncologist and had a CT scan scheduled. But...the day before the scan Aaron fell at work and broke his left arm. During the surgery to repair it they confirmed that the cancer was back. Since it came back so quickly it is now considered chemo resistant and other forms of treatment have to be done. We went to a Lymphoma specialist at the Georgia Cancer Center in Augusta, and she had Aaron try a new form of cell therapy. He was in the hospital for 18 days receiving treatment. One month later his PET scan showed that not only did the treatment not work, but the cancer was also getting worse in his arm and had spread to some lymph nodes. He is now part of a research study at the National Cancer Institute at the NIH in Bethesda, MD. He will be flying back and forth quite a bit over the next year while he receives treatment. Luckily, his flight and hotel are paid for, but we are responsible for everything else. He has only been able to work a few months out of the last year and there is no disability insurance, so things are tight to say the least. Please know that whatever we receive is appreciated!”

They are very humbled by this kind of thing, but I know that God has a plan and that someone out there has a blessing that is awaiting them for their generosity.
