CANANDAIGUA CARES BY FEEDING THE FRONTLINE, OUR VULNERABLE ELDERLY POPULATION AND THOSE FAMILIES IN DESPERATE NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY
It was difficult to fathom just what we were about to endure as Covid-19 hit our community. It was putting it mildly to say that this was and will continue to be a very trying time for so many in our Canandaigua community. Those of us that are fortunate enough to be doing our part by staying home to save lives want to do more!
OUR MISSION:
Canandaigua Cares by Feeding the Frontline donates meals from our local eateries to our heroic frontline healthcare workers and first responders during this pandemic. In order to minimize foot traffic and respect social distancing guidelines, we streamlined this effort with a small group of volunteers. As we all know, Covid-19 is much more than a health crisis. Now that our hospital seems to be “stable” (thank goodness), we are feeling more of the human, economic and social crisis side of this. Our support is now also needed in other areas of our community. We are now also working with local agencies that are providing food to the vulnerable elderly population that can’t get out due to lack of mobility and/or finances and families in desperate need (due to job losses). We will continue to accomplish this effort using our local eateries just as we have in the past. Please note, we are in no way connected to the CARES Act (Caronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act).
WHY DONATE:
When you donate to this effort not only are you supporting those that are risking their lives every day for us, as well as the elderly and families in our community that need support, you will also be supporting our local eateries and their employees during a time when their livelihoods are also being deeply affected. Let’s show our appreciation in true “Brave” style for those that are giving “BRAVE” a whole new meaning at this time.
All donations will stay local. Every donation will help!
HOW IT WORKS:
We will coordinate with our community eateries to order meals, set up delivery locations, set up delivery dates/times and cover all costs associated with doing so with your generous donations.
We will coordinate with Thompson Hospital and other local healthcare facilities (i.e. VA Medical Center, FF Thompson Continuing Care Center) as funds become available to deliver meals directly to their employees. We will also coordinate with our local agencies that are helping to feed our vulnerable elderly population and families in great need to be sure they are also supported with meals.
We will coordinate with our local first responders to deliver meals directly to them.
All donations will be used for this sole purpose. All efforts to coordinate and facilitate these efforts will be provided on a volunteer basis.
Once the pandemic is over, if there are additional resources remaining, they will be donated to Thompson Hospital.
