Camross Parish Development Association

In April 2012, Camross Community Hall Committee led by Very Rev. Fr John Lalor received planning permission to build a multi-use general building on the Parish lands behind the Poets Cottage.

 

In 2013, the Paris was given the opportunity to purchase the lands adjacent to the existing parish lands and Fr. Lalor, being the visionary that he was, completed the purchase.

 

Today, Camross Community and Parish, with the help of generous community donations and range of grants, have almost completed works on a Community Hub and Park.

 

The benefits to the communities of Camross will be enormous, enhancing and rejuvenating our area, whilst providing a communal space that we can all enjoy and be proud of.

Community Playing Field and Walkway
- 500m of beautifully lit LED walkway along the river, off the main thoroughfare, for people of all ages to walk and run safely with their friends, family or individually.
- A state of the art Community Playing Field, built to the same high specification as the Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise.
- A new outdoor classroom by the river.
- A new community garden.

New Community Centre 'Hub'
- A warm, eco-friendly building for the use by all groups & associations within the Community.
- A multi-purpose gym and weights area, that will facilitate classes for all ages.
- A fully kitted office area with high-speed Fibre broadband which could be utilised by many as a remote working 'hub' or occasionally to browse the internet and print documents.
- New kitchen area that has the potential to support a Community Café.
