Camp Discovery - Operation Asphalt

Camp Discovery has proudly served mentally/physically challenged children and adults with week-long experiences of summer camp for four decades now. It is our belief that everyone deserves a chance to go to camp!

After the wear and tear of foot and motorized traffic on these pathways for those four decades, we have now reached a situation where we need to ask for help. Our asphalt trails and roads have deteriorated drastically. We have reached a point where we are teaching our staff to maneuver our wheelchair campers and those walking using walkers to go around the cracks and crevices, signaling it is time for us to act.

We are reaching out to you for your help. The entire cost is estimated to be about $40,000.00 to cover the existing paths leading to the three cabins, the dining hall, and the pool area. We have been successful in raising $20,000 for the project so far, but have reached a standstill without your help. We are hoping to be able to complete the job before the camp season starts in June. We need to raise the funds now.

We know times are tough right now and money can be tight, but if everyone will pitch in and give just a little, we can reach our goal. Our campers deserve no less. If you can’t personally donate, please share this posting with your friends, places of work, or businesses you frequent who might want to help us out with a tax-deductible donation. Anything large or small will add up to help us make the camper experience as enjoyable and safe as possible, as well as easing the burden on our counselors maneuvering campers around our camp.
