The Sanctuary at Haafsville Eagle Scout Project
Spende geschützt
Hello, My name is Reagan Breisch and I am an Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 439 in Allentown, PA working towards completing my project. My Scouting career began as a tiger cub in the first grade, and over the last ten years, Scouting has taught me so many things. More than anything, it has taught me the twelve points of the Scout Law, values like trustworthiness, courtesy, and kindness, that I will carry with me throughout my adult life. One overall value that the Scout Law points toward is helping others instead of just helping ourselves.
The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Scout can achieve. It is estimated that only about 4% of boys that begin Boy Scouts will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. In order to earn this rank, I must progress through 6 different ranks, complete 21 merit badges; hold leadership positions within my Troop for a total of 16 months: plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project; take part in a Scoutmaster conference; and complete an Eagle Scout Board Review. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout project which requires me to manage a project, raise funds, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, and act as the foreman of the project.
My project, which was approved on March 4th, 2021 is centered around improving the adoption experience at the Sanctuary at Haafsville. The Sanctuary at Haafsville is a non-profit cat and dog shelter stationed in Breinigsville, PA. The shelter was started in 2010 and they chose the name “Sanctuary” because it embraces the concept of providing every animal at their shelter with a nurturing environment. Their facility houses most of their cats and dogs, but some reside in foster homes. For more information on the services they provide, visit their website: https://www.thesanctuarypa.org/
The project consists of two parts. The first part is the reconstruction of an old dog play enclosure so that it is usable again. This area will be used as a space for the dogs to interact and play with each other as well as a place for potential adopters to interact with the dog(s) they are considering adopting. The second part is to construct a large paver pathway that will connect the accessible parking space to the two main buildings at the shelter. This will allow for volunteers, potential adopters, and other visitors who use assistive mobility devices to more easily get from their car to either of the buildings. I expect my project to start in mid-April and last until early-June. The project is planned to last a total of 7 weekends of work.
In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the financial support of friends and family. All donations will go towards the cost of supplies and materials. Any money left over after the completion of my project will be donated to the Sanctuary in order to support their ongoing efforts.
By donating towards my project, you will not only be supporting me with my project but most importantly the shelter and their efforts to provide the best possible environment for their animals, volunteers, and guests. I have estimated that the costs of my project will total about $3,000. If you are willing and able to donate to my project, it would be greatly appreciated. Your generosity of any amount, even $10, would help me to complete my project; provide the dogs, volunteers, and guests with a more enjoyable environment; and ultimately assist me with earning my Eagle Rank in Scouting.
Receiving the rank of Eagle Scout will not bring an end to my scouting career, but instead show that I can use the skills that I have learned throughout my years of Scouting to provide leadership and guidance to my fellow scouts. Becoming an Eagle Scout will begin a new chapter in my life, one in which the values I have developed in Scouting will always guide me forward.
Thank you so much for your consideration, and your support!
