This is my little sister, Ellen Michniacki and her husband, she just celebrated 7 years cancer free after breast cancer. Her husband, Paul, recently, also, battled breast cancer and prostrate cancer.
That would be more than enough to deal with for anyone, but then Ellen started to have stomach pain on and off, they figured she was dealing with the effects of stress, but then she insisted on a CT scan and the worst news was revealed, stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Ellen is, again, in a battle for her life. She and Paul have worked very hard making a successful business on Etsy sewing costumes, which has kept them afloat, helping to pay for ongoing medical expenses from her last chemo, 7 years ago, along with the cost of their current insurance premiums and other household expenses.
She is in for, yet, another long battle of chemo and, hopefully, possible clinical trials. She is very worried and doesn't know how she and her hubby will be able to keep up with the sewing in her business in order to be able to pay their bills. There, currently, is no cure and she will be on chemo for the rest of her life.
They will be driving an hour and 40 minutes one way 6 times a month for at least 6 months and beyond. Travel, alone, will be expensive plus they have two rescue dogs that will need care while they are gone.
This was Ellen during her last bout with cancer and her beloved, Mack, who is now gone, but she has two new loves that she rescued. Did I mention that she is an animal lover?!
She, also, adores her 2 beautiful granddaughters and makes the most fun times for them when they visit! They love being with Grammy, Ellen!
Ellen has a heart of gold! She has given tirelessly of her time organizing, making, and donating hundreds of knitted prosthesis for breast cancer survivors.
Now she needs help! If you can, any amount will help and be greatly appreciated. If you can't, please share her story!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, her sister, Elaine Schaefer
