Phi Sigma Kappa Vs. Injustice

Donation protected
Brothers, so as not to be complacent like the many other organizations similar to our own, we have discussed how best our fraternity as a whole can not only draw attention to the injustice on display in the United States of America but also actively contribute to the ongoing fight to combat that same injustice. This Fraternity’s members should strive to be leaders in not only the Greek community, but the Maryland community, and the greater community of this country as a whole. Too often is performative activism the route many of us take, posting to Instagram stories, retweeting, and hashtagging about how much we care. While posting to social media can be important in its own regard, what truly aids those in crisis, those facing injustice, is action. This GoFundMe was created with the goal to raise at least $3,000 for George Floyd, as well as the many other black men, women, and children, that are facing similar injustices throughout this country today.

I call upon my fellow brothers, your family members, and our alumni to help reach this goal. Once we reach our goal of $3,000 we will proceed to make the donation(s) while also issuing an official statement from the chapter as well as quotes from brothers on the matters at hand, while simultaneously aiming to inspire other Greek chapters to do the same.

With that, I would like to draw attention to one of Phi Sigma Kappa’s Cardinal Principles, Character.

To Develop Character:

Honor is the basis of fraternal relationships. We resolve to instill in each member a devotion to those values which will guide him to ends that are noble and right, so that in all that he represents and in all that he does, he shall be known as a man of honor who inspires others by his example and thus wins admiration and respect for himself and for Phi Sigma Kappa.

Stand with me in aiding those who are currently combating injustice all across this nation. Let us brothers, alumni, and our family members be individuals who have values that guide us to ends that are noble and right, so that in all we represent, and in all that we do, we shall be known as people who inspire others by our example.

Damn proud.

From Xavier Mason Jennings, a proud black man, and proud brother of Phi Sigma Kappa, Eta Chapter at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Thank you in advance!
