BWENZI Education Center in Malawi

Welcome to my Go Fund Me! My name is Lily and I am currently the president for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) chapter of Bwenzi . I've been fortunate to work with a team of dedicated students at RPI who have been fundraising and spreading awareness for this project this past year. This project is in March of This year.
This project is important to me as it will make a lasting difference improving the lives of the people in the villages.
Bwenzi is a nonprofit organization that works to empower student leaders and local communities to work on health and education initiatives. "Bwenzi" mean Friend in the local language of Chichewa. Our upcoming project will allow students, like myself, to connect with students at Malawi Polytechnic University and collaborate on building an education center for one of our partner villages.
Bwenzi believes in developing long-term partnerships with the communities it supports, which is why we have worked with the same teams and villages year after year. The establishment of an education center will allow local villages to have a safe space for recreation and learning. We will also be partnering with local college students and nonprofits to provide mentor groups.
Our hope is that this is the start of an incredible educational transformation in this community. One that, while supported by our team, is ultimately led and owned by the locals.
I would truly appreciate it if you would be willing to partner with me on this mission. All funds contributed to this specific campaign will go toward the costs required for travel to Malawi and help implement this project (e.g. airfare, housing, ground transportation, etc.)
