Buy a car for Mami
Donation protected
Earlier this year I started volunteering with Roots for Refugees in Murfreesboro. I mentor a refugee family from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mami is a single mom (age 26) with two boys ages 11 and 5.
This family is working really hard to assimilate in to their new culture and gain indenpendnce in our country. Earilier this year I challenged the mother to complete three goals.
1. Keep her current job until we could find new housing for her.
2. Attend english classes in her home 3 night a week.
3. Get her driving permit and eventually her drivers license.
I am pleased that all goals have been completed, except one. She passed her driver permit test and is learning to drive. We hope to pass the driving portion of that test before the end of the year.
A quality used car will go a long way in helping her achieve that goal. She will need help with insurance and car registration. My 54th Birthday is on November 10 and I have a goal of $5400 (which is $100 for every year I've been alive). My husband Randy will match the first $2700 donated. The car I have in mind is pictured on this campaign.
Won't you help us take this next step?
