Burpees for Baton Rouge- Back on the International Platform
Spende geschützt
My name is Linsey Piel-Glade and I am an amateur weightlifter with Norak Weightlifting Club in Winnipeg Manitoba. I am a member of Manitoba Weightlifting Association (MWA) and Weightlifting Canada Halterophilie Masters (WCHW). I am 37 years old and hope to compete at the Pan American Masters Championships in the 81kg female category in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May of 2025. In 2022 I travelled to Orlando Florida to compete at the World Masters Championships and finished just outside the medals (4th place). I have been working hard since and am excited to get back on the international platform for another chance at the podium! Come along with me on my journey and enjoy this amazing sport of Olympic Weightlifting!
My upcoming goals include:
Getting NCCP Certified (December 2024)
Pan American Masters Championships (Baton Rouge) 2025
Many of these competitions come with a cost so Please consider supporting this journey. Travelling for competitions is very expensive as we have to cover our own costs for travel, accommodations, registration fees and I often need to take unpaid leave from work.
Past Accomplishments to note:
Canadian Masters Championships 2021- Gold (35W87+)
Canadian Masters Championships 2022- Gold (35W87)
World Masters Championships 2022- finished 4th (35W87)
Western Canadian Championships 2023- Gold (35W81)
2024 Recipient of the Sport Manitoba Women to Watch Grant
Canadian Masters Championships 2024- Gold (35W81)
A little more about my story...
I have tried and quit almost every sport until I found Olympic Weightlifting. I love that it is just me against me. We train hard and we grow our minds and bodies to become strong and resilient people in all parts of life. We build each other up and inspire each other to hit personal records (PRs) in the gym as often as we celebrate milestones in our personal lives too. It has really become my second family.
My coaches, Mike Higham and Paul McDill, keep me motivated and focused on the task at hand. They remind me that I cannot control what anyone else does on the platform, I can only control what I do. This is an important lesson in life as well.
I have the support of my amazing husband Jon Glade and the staff and students at St. John’s High School where I work. I also run a Female Fitness club where we learn the importance of strength training and owning our space in the weight room! My students are aware of my accomplishments and often ask about my training. I see this as a great opportunity to teach them that you are never ‘too old’ or it is never ‘too late’ to try something new! My students are excited to see how I progress in my training and I can’t wait to share my videos and experience with them when I travel to competitions.
This fundraiser would assist me in covering travel costs, competition costs (registration) as well as cover lost pay as I am often required to take unpaid leave to attend out of province competitions. I am looking forward to representing Team Canada for the Pan American Championships (2025).
Leave it all on the platform
