Burma Center

The Burma Center, located in Springfield, Michigan, is a non-profit that empowers Burmese Americans through advocacy, community engagement, and education. They provide various services, such as resource navigation, language access, health and wellbeing, supplemental education for k-12, family empowerment and community engagement programs.

The organization was established in 2011, during the peak of Burmese refugee arrivals in the Battle Creek community. Refugees are people who have left their country of origin due to experiences of persecution or for having “a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.” Currently, about 2500 people are identifying as Burmese in Calhoun County.

BlueOx Credit Union is joining alongside the Burma Center this week, in honor of CUKind Day, to raise money to help fund education programs, building updates, and more. We encourage you to donate as well to this cause and help make a positive impact in our communities!
