Get Buddy the Cat "Adoption Ready"!

Donation protected
BAD NEWS, EVERYONE: The first round of meds didn't work. Buddy needs to return to the vet, which likely means another $500 bill (and another week or so of us giving him meds).

We are accordingly increasing the goal of this GoFundMe from $600 to $1100. Any amount you can contribute would be much appreciated.

Any excess will be given to the Wildlife Learning Center   upon Buddy's adoption, and a receipt posted on this page.

-----------------------------------------------------

This is Buddy. We rescued him from the streets of NYC the night before a big snowstorm.

Buddy is the most naturally friendly cat I've ever met. He loves people and approaches them for love, snuggles, cuddles, and nuzzling. He is toilet-trained and apparently rather young; most likely under a year. He still has some of his soft kitteny fur.

Buddy will make a wonderful pet for someone who has been longing for a little kitty of their own. Not sure how he interacts with other cats, but he LOVES people. And since he's already toilet trained, the hard part is over.

BUT there are some bills to be paid to get him (as the local cat adoption agency I'm working with puts it) "adoption ready ".

1) Buddy is having "poop problems". I won't go into gross details. Initially, I made an appointment with an internal medicine specialist vet at the ASPCA's NYC center . This would have cost $125 just for the appointment. However, the bleeding wouldn't stop, so instead we took him to an emergency visit to the Animal Medical Center, which cost $170 just for the base visit. With meds, testing (he turned out to be negative for all of the serious feline diseases such as FIV/FELV/etc), subcutaneous fluid administration, and a bag of prescription "low residue" cat food, the final vet bill for his hospital visit was $416.43. The good news, though: These meds should fix his GI problems!

2) Buddy isn't fixed. To get him neutered at the local ASPCA mobile spay/neuter clinic will cost $125 (as I am not on public assistance). Mirochipping will add an additional $20. This brings the total to $561.43

4) Buddy needed a cat carrier and various other items from a pet store ('easy feeder' oral syringes, cat wipes for nasty bits stuck in his fur, cat treats, high calorie cat supplement, a cat pan, and cat litter). This totaled $86.95, for a total of $648.38.

Generous friends have donated a bit of money via Paypal. As of 7:56 PM on January 27, 2015, this amount totals $40. Accordingly, I am subtracting this amount from our total goal, for a total of $600. (I'm eating the last $8.38.)

I'm having a rough time financially due to preparations for an upcoming event and some old bills that I'm paying off. So I'm asking the community for help. Any and all funds collected through this GoFundMe will go towards Buddy's vet or supply bills. Any excess will be donated to Lauren Faust's animal charity of choice, Wildlife Learning Center , which I was pleased to help raise over $4k for via my charity show, The Old Grey Mare.

All receipts will be posted both here AND on Buddy's page at my website .
