Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you may know Marvin was accepted into Medical School and will start July 2014! As you also know, Marvin and I have answered the call to foster and have been foster parents for over a year now. Some of you may not know that we have a 3 year old boy who we have had in our home for over a year now. Marvin and I feel very strongly that we are supposed to adopt him if this becomes an option in the near future and are praying for an adoptive family for our 10 year old foster son who can meet his needs and allow him to be in a forever home with his sibling. While we are praying for this family we feel very strongly that we need to see him through to his forever home.

This year has been full of so much unknown and uncertainty for the future but God is bringing us understanding as the year progresses and we have peace that this is what He is calling us to do. We believe God is asking us to walk a new journey with him which includes Deborah staying in Arkansas another year. This will allow us the opportunity to adopt orsee our boys through to the next step. We are earnestly praying and seeking answers to all the unknown in the future. At th   is time God has continued to assure us that He has a plan and as we will walk in faith He will guide our steps. We thank God for opening doors to use our God-given abilities to help those that are hurting and hopeless through continued missions at work and in fostering/adopting.

I (Deborah) have been serving for 2 years as an urban missionary with a non-profit organization called City of Hope Outreach (coho58.org). After much prayer and pursuing other possibilities, we at this time do not feel like God is closing this door in our lives or opening any others. We love this organization for the way in which God is using it in under resourced areas of Conway, AR. We know first hand that the people in these communities are in desperate need of guidance and a better life through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Recently, I was asked to pray about staying on staff, full-time, as God is leading the way to use CoHO to open a men’s transitional shelter in Conway. I would continue to be the case manager and administrative director on staff and help to lay the foundation for how the shelter will serve others in the future. CoHO is able to offer a partial salary if the remaining is raised through support.

As children, we both spent many years living in communities similar to the ones CoHO ministers in and this continues to drive us to help make a change. Many of the foster children we have welcomed into our home have come from similar situations as well. Our passion is to give back in the way that so many others did for us. We were given an opportunity that many people never receive;; therefore, we want to help people and our foster children see that God is the only provider of healing and hope. We want to show others that God provides for their needs and God places people in their life for a specific reason. We want to give love as we have been given to the people in this community. God commands us to preach His word starting in “Jerusalem”, starting in our home town. To commit another year to CoHO as a full time human service worker in these forgotten communities that are filled with hurt and poverty would be an answered prayer. This is where your generosity and support is vitally important.

In order to continue ministering at CoHO while Marvin is in medical school, we need to raise $1,000 a month in monthly support. We are praying that God will lay on your heart the desire to partner with us financially for the next year on this adventure of a lifetime. Our family believes this is what God has planned for us and we ask for your support as we take this step of faith. Please consider helping make this possible.

If you feel lead to become a monthly sponsor, visit coho58.org/contribute to set up a one-time gift or monthly withdrawl. Please be sure to indicate that your gift is for the Cuevas family. To set up automatic withdrawal by mail: Just send a voided check, the gift amount, and a note stating it’s for the Cuevas family to: P.O. Box 11474 Conway, AR 72034. CoHO is a 501c3 tax deductible organization. All donations are tax deductible through City of Hope Outreach. Please let us know that you gave so we’ll know when we reach our goal.

As important as the financial aspect is, we covet your prayers that Jesus Christ’s words would be proclaimed and lived through our lives. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and we feel very fortunate to be a part of it. Let’s make a difference together!

Blessings,
Marvin and Deborah Cuevas
