Brooks & Friends Hurricane Laura Relief Fund

In the early morning hours of August 26th, 2020, Category 4 Hurricane Laura came ashore as one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history.  The most severe damage was to Lake Charles and surrounding areas of Louisiana where the devastation is overwhelming!  Our family members and dearest friends are now there trying to survive in this sweltering heat without electricity and in some cases water.   Access to key resources such as food, gas (for generators - those who have them) and water are very limited.  The damage to their homes is substantial and not a single home of our family and friends is undamaged.   They are left waiting by the insurance companies who are making appointments to assess damage up to weeks away!  Also, the insurance companies that most of them have has skyrocketed their deductibles in recent years due to the history of storms in Louisiana so now they must come up with large amounts to even get their homes fixed  at all (most are at least $8k deductibles).  We all know insurance doesn't cover everything either- like generators, or clearing of down trees (if they aren't on any structures), etc.  
My husband and I live in Houston, TX and are working to get supplies to them whenever possible.  We are opening this fundraiser to help as many as we can with expenses and deductibles and essential supplies they will need to keep going on their recovery. 
These funds will go directly to family members (Sister, Nieces, Mother) and also a few of our dearest friends who are also in Lake Charles.  Anything you can give to help will be a great blessing to them and we appreciate your support!
