Bringing Christmas to Care homes

*Please help bring Christmas to Care Home Residents this year*
2020 has been a catastrophe for the mental health of so many, none more so than the vulnerable elderly in our community. Those who live in care homes have been deprived of seeing their loved ones in order to protect themselves and others, and this has taken a huge toll on their health and quality of life.
1 in 3 elderly people in the UK stated feeling more lonely due to the impact of covid-19 (1)
The effects of loneliness on the elderly are widespread, and include seeing an increase in stress and anxiety, declining mental and physical health, as well as causing strained personal relationships (2).

Please help donate so that Christmas gifts and cards can be given to local care homes, providing a connection to the vulnerable and making someone feel valued and cherished at what can be a very emotive time of year (Even without a global pandemic).
Gift ideas include: chocolates/ sweets ( suitable for diabetic residents), small plants for individual rooms/ communal areas, toiletries, crosswords/ other puzzles, poems (written especially for this occasion), twiddle blankets suitable for those with dementia.
I realise that 2020 has has a huge impact on us all, and am aware that asking for donations at this time of year may be difficult for some. If you aren't able to donate, but are local to the Liverpool area and would like to help/ offer gift suggestions, please get in touch via my Facebook page.
Special attention will be paid to ensure that covid-19 guidelines are followed at all times.
