Bring the knife angel to Harlow 2023

Hi, my name is Allison Melaugh and i am raising money to bring the knife angel to Harlow in 2023 , i will be doing a sky dive in the summer of 2022 and need sponsors please to achieve this . My dearest friend Mel is doing numerous events to bring this symbol of awareness to our town . Please see below , and thanks in advance for helping us achieve this .

 

 

 

Melanie Hopwood, a mother of five sadly lost her second eldest son Tommy Jones when he was stabbed and killed on September 1st 2006.  

Mel has since been passionate about campaigning and raising awareness for knife and violent crime, travelling the country and talking in schools and at events.  

The knife angel is close to Mel's heart as Tommy has an engraved knife on the National monument of violence and aggression and her wish is to host this monument to hers and Tommy's home town of Harlow which has been agreed if the money is raised this year to host it in September 2023.

 

Information around the Knife angel:

In total £10k needs to be raised to allow Harlow to have the Angel for 30 days, under the premise that for 28 days educational workshops take place for the National anti violence youth education programme.  These workshops will target the youth of today, raising awareness of the many implications of gang life and knife crime.  It is evident that many of our younger generation are so lost and angry and easily influenced by peers looking to fit in, this will be a great intervention and bring the town together to fight this cause from a positive place.

 

Moving forward we have appointments with both the Council and the local Police for their contribution and assistance, as you can see below there are some real financial implications to host the monument, inclusive but not limited to:-

Crane hire, flat bed lorry, lighting, security, insurance, printing advertising and  equipment for the educational workshops. The angel will be visited by various school years from infant upwards .
