There’s something exciting that I’d love for you to be a part of and yes I have gone big with raising £10,000 and here is the reason why.
Introducing Enable the Children’s Sports Day and Beach Outing—two fun, heartwarming, and impactful events for children living with disabilities in Sierra Leone. By donating, you’ll be part of a movement that champions inclusion, community, and connection.
What’s the big idea?
Enable the Children in collaboration with partner organisations, provides physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and psychosocial support to over 1,000 children living with disabilities in Sierra Leone, where stigma and misconceptions about disability are still widespread.
These events—Sports Day and Beach Outing—are a powerful way to raise awareness and bring joy to these amazing children and their families - do not just take my word for it check out the video below and I hope you also saw the video at the top of the page, if not go back up.
At Sports Day, around 120 children will take part in accessible activities like musical chairs, egg-and-spoon races, athletics, and football. The Beach Outing is a massive day with 2,500 people at the beach, where up to 700 children living with a disability get to bring two guests, play in the sand and water, lots of bubbles, listen to inspiring stories of change and prominent individuals give speeches but also can hear and see the challenges they face first hand!
Why does it matter?
These events are more than just fun—they raise awareness, reduce stigma, and help children and families feel included and valued in their communities. The more we engage, the closer we get to a world where everyone is truly included.
How can you help?
This year, your support is needed to keep making these two events as great as they can be. Your donations will help cover transportation for the beneficiaries to come from all across the city, venue costs, activities, and refreshments. Every penny/pence (ect.) will go toward creating an unforgettable experience for these children and their families.
