What is the impact of fundraising NOK 1,200,000 (USD$135,000)
Access to light and energy is a catalyst for better health, economic growth, and overall improvement in quality of life. By giving a female farmer in Kenya a SunBell solar lantern, you will be giving her and her family much needed access to both light and charging.
SunBell is a solar lantern offering up to 120 hours of light on one charge as well as the ability to charge a mobile phone. It replaces the need for kerosene lamps, making the home safer and erasing the health risks from fumes.
A contribution of NOK 270 / USD$30 (ink VAT) will buy a SunBell for a female farmer and her family.
You are of course able to donate less, or more.
It will provide additional 4,500 farmers with their own SunBell, transforming their life with access to clean light and energy.
The estimated impact of 4,500 SunBells:
• 19,643 people with improved energy access
• 4,583,250 additional light hours provided
• 4,845 tonnes of C02e emissions avoided
Action Africa : Thriving Farms, Thriving Future
In August BRIGHT Products partnered with Yara in the Action Africa initiative, taking action to avert hunger crisis in the wake of Covid 19. Action Africa is a coordinated effort to deliver better farm productivity, meet local food demand, improve farmer incomes and food security and improve population health through better nutrition and access to clean energy.
Through Action Africa, a donation of 40,000 tons of premium fertilizer to 250,000 farmers can now provide food for one million people in East Africa, while millions more are connecting to ongoing advice through Yara’s ground-breaking new digital platform. The digital platform will provide crucial agronomical advice and information to the farmer through their mobile phone.
However, there is no digitalisation without electricity, therefore BRIGHT contributed with 2,000 SunBells to female farmers in Machakos and Makueni counties, outside Nairobi in December this year. These farmers were selected based on their lack of access to electricity, household size and total children under the age of 16 in the household.
